UNIFORM CHECK IN

Seems how I am having a hard time getting thru to everyone that they have to have everything in their uniform bag, they have to check them in and out. I really wanted to avoid doing this because everyone should be old enough to be responsible, but I guess not. So Monday Oct. 16 everyone needs to bring me EVERYTHING in their uniform bag. Unitard, underarmor, silver top, red wrap, shoes, gloves, and black socks (NO ANKLE SOCKS).

!!HELP!!

Ok so I know that it is getting down to the nitty gritty with uniforms and everything. We have the pattern and one of the flute players mom is making the prototype for us and so as soon as I can get that from her and the fabric then we are good to go for making the rest of these... I do need help... I know that most of you that can sew or know someone that can sew are only available on the weekends and that is fine. If we can get a sewing party together on a Friday and/or Saturday we could have all of them done. It wont take long at all. There are only 14 female costumes and 1 male costume. I am going to talk to my mother in law and see if she can help with sewing them, or at least surge them because she does have a surger. PLEASE CALL ME this weekend if you are able to help lets say the 17th and/or 18th. I really need help!!!! My number is 760-0354!! Thanks

After School Practices!!!

Today at practice it was decided that the after school practices would be on Monday's and Wednesday's from 4-6. BUT Monday's are early release so practice time has changed to 3-5, but Thursday's will stay the same. I understand if some of you may have jobs BUT you need to put forth the effort to make it to practices after school because really this is the only time that we as just a guard will be able to perform together. So if you have a job that has rotating days off, please tell them you either need the Monday off or the Thursday off. I know some of you have different activities at 6 on Thursday and that is fine you may leave at 5:30, but please give me your all when you are at practices. It will make my job easier, and trust me it will be a bagillion times better for everyone if we all put forth the effort. GIVE ME YOUR ALL, ALL THE TIME PLEASE!!!!!! If you have any questions please let me know!!!!

I DID IT.... SO CAN YOU!!!

Hey I am not sure how your pancake breakfast ticket sales are coming but guess what!!! I sold all of mine and I DIDN'T NEED TO. Just get out and ask people. Once school starts ask your teachers!! Do ask people in the band because I know that some of the kids would love to come eat some yummy pancakes!! Make sure that you do tell them when asking if they want to buy any, it is ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKES for $7.00. Remember it is September 18 @ Applebee's from 7-10. Anyone over the age of 16 will be helping out in the kitchen. So therefore we will need everyone there. Being there is not ACCEPTABLE!!! Everyone knows about this. We need all of your help. Happy Selling!!!!
~Kayla

Wrong Date!!!

Uniforms!!

Half of the Uniforms and all of the equipment have been ordered!! YAY!!! The other half of the uniform is being put together by E'laine Khang, her son is a flute player. Once she gets the piece put together, we can be well underway with all of the uniforms. We did get all the measurements of the guard. My mother in law let us borrow her serger. I am not positive how to use it but there are directions. She did give me a little tip on how to use it. And unfortunately she is out of town for 2 weeks. But I do have it. So once E'laine gets the prototype done I will let you all know!!! Thank you!!!
~Kayla

Pancake Breakfast!!!

EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE SELLING THESE TICKETS!!! THAT IS HOW YOU WILL GET YOU GUARD FEE PAID FOR!!! I don't want to hear anyone complaining because they don't have their money in. Also the more money you have in your account the less you have to come up with for St. George!!! Because it does cost us to go to St. George!! Any questions please ask me.
~Kayla

Early Morning, etc......

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know that we will not have practice until Tuesday the 31st, but that doesn't mean you stop practicing!! I want to see much improvement by Tuesday!! That week we will just be practicing Tuesday 8-11 at Irving, and then on Friday the 2nd at Irving from 7-8:10 and that will be the start of early morning!!! From then on practices will be Monday and Wednesday Holt Arena at 6:15- 8:10 am and there will be a bus to ride back to school for those who cannot drive. Then Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be at 7-8:10am at Irving, buses will be provided also. Please when we are at Irving DO NOT wear flip flops of sandals because it goes with your out fit, same rules apply during school as the summer, Tennis shoes. You can change on your way to school. Now at the Holt Arena you can take your shoes off if you have sandals on. Dress warm when we are at Irving because it it cold in the mornings and I suggest that until you get your gloves to wear gloves to practice in the mornings because your little fingers will freeze and the pole does get cold.... Also we do need to discuss practices after school because this will be the only GUARD time. I understand some of you work and everything but it only makes practices harder if you are not there. Anyway if you have any questions let me know!! Thanks ~Kayla

So start making up your routines now, and it doesn't have to be very long just long enough for me to see what you can do! I will decide next week when the tryouts will be!!

Week of 7-4-10

These next 2 weeks are really busy for me and that is why this week I have decided to not have practice this week, but it will remain the next week because we do have to marching practice with the band on the 20th. I feel that everyone has worked really hard and has put alot of effort into guard and so I thought that it would be nice to give them a little break. But that doesn't mean that they can come back and we have to learn everything all over again because I will not be a happy camper. Everyone needs to practice when there is no practice. Any questions please don't hesitate to call me!! ~Kayla~

Car Wash!!!!

So our next fundraiser is set for Tuesday July 6 from 12-5 at Auto Zone. We will be doing a car wash! Every one needs to be there by 11:30am so that we can discuss how exactly the set up of the car wash will go because we should have cars washed in a timely matter. It is a free car wash with donations so please let your friends and family know. All money that is made will be split up between every person who is working the car wash. I understand if some of you can only be there some of the time because you do have to work, that is fine. As long as when you are there you are putting effort in to washing the cars and not goofing off until you have to leave. Also we may have the snow shack also, it is not confirmed with Kyrie's family yet, but it is ok to have at Auto Zone. We will be doing the car washes every other Tuesday, same place, same time. So no one should ask where and when because it is the same. The students may wear their swim suits as long as they have shorts and a tank top over them especially if they are 2 piece. Every one needs to bring at least 2 towels to dry with, so do get your moms favorite towel to bring because it may get stained or torn or something. Also it may be a good idea to put your intials on your towels. I don't mind if your friends come by to say hi but PLEASE PLEASE tell them that they can't just hang around because you are working to raise money and it isn't fair to everyone else that is working and you are not because you are talking to your friend. If they are willing to help that is great but they can't stay all day. I am sorry if that is a little mean but I have to get the point across somehow. Any parents that can help out during these car washes would be greatly appriciated. I know it is a difficult time for some and most people. For the most part I should be able to make it to everyone but due to my work schedule I may not. Anyway if you have any questions about the car wash let me know and I will give you as much information as I have.

KUDOS TO YOU!!!!!

Yard Sale Update!!

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the yard sale. This year was a great success. We made over $450.00. That is way cool. Thank you to Kyrie's family for letting us use the Snow Shack also. I think that was a wonderful idea. I think the cake raffle was a great idea also but if we do another one we can plan it out differently, to where we make more and sell more tickets and we need to put them in a cooler. LOL!!! Overall I think that everyone had fun, and we will continue to get more fundraisers going. And pictures from the yard sale will be posted shortly too!!! As far as I know we are starting car washes ever other Tuesday and they will be in July. I will get confirmation on that tho. It will be after practices on Tuesdays probably until 7 MAYBE!!! I'm not positive. Once it gets all figured out everyone will be informed!!! Thanks

* Costume Designed was discussed and approved. A mini-committee was formed to get these made. We just need to set up a time to get them done.

Items can be dropped off at April's home anytime 6/20-2/25. There will also be a cake raffle - so all guard members are asked to bring a cake to be raffled off. The SnoShack will also be running throughout the sale too. After practice on Tues. 6/22 the guard will be making signs to hang up in various places to advertise. April's phone # is 339-8111 if you have any questions regarding the sale. GUARD CONFIRMED TO BE THERE: ChaAnn, Alyssa, Sheila, Zowie, Lizzie, Bree, Austin, Kinzie, Kyrie, Hayley K., Hailey H.

Do NOT wear jeans - wear comfortable clothes to exercise in. 6/22/10 from 8-2 with lunch from 11:00-11:30. 6/23/10 from 8-2 (Rifles go 8:00-10:30 with lunch 10:30-11:00. Flags join them at 10:50 - 2:00pm. Very important to be at these clinic dates! Huge advantage to have instructor help with skills.

* Band Meeting followed with good discussion on show. Decision was to have Halo go first and Raging Machines go last. Constructive discussion to break into work groups and assign heads for tasks. If you were asked to come up with a prototype - please have ideas to Mr Beckstead and Kayla within next couple weeks.

Hope this was very helpful information!! If you have any questions give me a call or send and email!! Thank you!!!

Yard Sale!!!

So we have decided that the yard sale is going to be June 26 at 436 West Young from 8~3. You may get a hold of Kinzie Baker to talk about when you can drop your stuff off and how soon you can drop it off.You do need to price the stuff yourself if you want credit for it. If it don't have a price on it, it will go into the colorguard acct. Also we are going to be doing a cake raffle, and ask that everyone that can be there to bake a cake(or yes you can buy one)and we will sell the raffle tickets for 2 dollars then at the end of the yard sale we will do the drawing!! Also I think it was mentioned about having the snow cone shack at the yard sale too! This will be discussed in the meeting on the 16th. Thanks
~Kayla

Colorguard/Band Meeting

June 16 in the Auditorium at Poky at 6pm. That is just for the parents/students of colorguard. At 7pm the band parents are going to show up.(they have to drop their kids off anyway for practice) Those of you who are willing and plan on helping you need to come prepared with calendars so that we can decide on the mini meetings that will need to happen. Also the mini groups!!! Thanks!
~Kayla

Change of practice location!

So I decided that having access to inside the school would be easier, then not having it at all. So practices will now be at Poky instead of Irving, until further notice. We may eventually run into a problem the later the summer gets but as of right now that is where practices will be. Still Tuesday and Wednesday 8-11 and Friday 9-12. EXCEPT Wednesday the 16th practice will only go until 10am because I have a meeting at 11am that I cannot miss. Have them still bring water and snacks and sunscreen(in case we go outside). Also just a heads up for the Clinic on June 22&23 practice will go from 8-2 and they will get a lunch break so they do need to bring lunches those 2 days. Any questions call or email me!!

June 8

Hey guys remember we have practice at 8 am Tuesday morning at Irvin on the track. Make sure that you bring water and a snack so that you don't get dehydrated or sick. Also make sure you bring sunscreen, you are welcome to wear a hat if you want. I don't really care what you wear just as long as you are comfortable in it. Be ready to work hard over the next few weeks!! I am excited. We will also be discussing fundraisers and stuff that are going to happen soon!! I will see you guys Tuesday!!

Rifles!!

So the rifles have been ordered and hopefully they will be here next week sometime!!! I am so excited for you guys to use them. Anyone is able to try out for the rifle line. Let me just make this clear to everyone because I think there may be some confusion. Everyone will be doing flag and dance but there is going to be a rifle feature in the show and that is going to be whoever makes the rifle line. So if you just want to stick with flag that is fine. But in the show there may be 3 groups which will be some flag, some dance, and some rifle. I don't know yet at this point. But I promise you that if you try out for rifle and make it you will love it. It is a hard piece of equipment to learn but you will be so glad that you learned it!!!! Anyways I am so excited!!!! I will see all of you next week!!!

Practices start June 8!!!!!

Summer practices will start on June 8 @ 8 am at Irving on the track/football field and will go until 11 am. Please make sure that your child is there on time. Also you need to make sure that your child does have water and some snacks. We don't want their little bodies to get dehydrated or anything. If your child does not have a ride please call me. I will be handing out a phone list at the first practice, so that we all can get a hold of each other. Also those who have not turned in their contracts I do need them by that practice too, I do have extras!

Practices will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 8-11 am and on Fridays 9 am-12 pm. As for the dance lessons I still have yet to hear from the lady. Her phone has been broken and she does have a dance recital on the 10th of June so it may be after that, that I will hear from her because I know she is busy.

Any questions call me @ 760-0354 or email me @ knkcrawley23@cableone.net
Thanks,
~Kayla~

Welcome!!!

Ok so this is my first post on here!!! I just wanted to welcome you and I really do hope that you will follow this blog. My reasoning behind this blog is so that we can communicate somehow, whether it is by email, phone, texting, or thru your child. But I thought this might be a fun way to communicate also. So what you will see on here is basically the days that we are going to practice, the times and where practice will be at, meetings. Also fundraising events that will be coming up, band camp schedules, practices once school starts again, and also competitions. So I will do my best to update this about everyday or close to it. At least weekly :) Anyway like I said before I hope that this will help you know what is going on. Feel free to email me or just leave a comment. Thank you!!!
